After nearly eight decades, basketball fans will get to see the NBA’s first-ever active father-son duo in the 2024-25 season.

Bronny James was selected by the LA Lakers with the 55th pick in the 2024 NBA draft, pairing him up with his father, LeBron James.

Many have criticized the pick, claiming the younger James was not ready to play in the big leagues as in his only year in college, he averaged a measly 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game.

He had a breakout game in the Lakers’ final preseason game against the Golden State Warriors, where he posted 17 points, four rebounds and three steals. He played in six preseason games and averaged 4.1 ppg and 1.6 rpg.

Meanwhile, LeBron James remains one of the best players in the league. He will turn 40 in December, but “King James” isn’t showing any signs of slowing down. Last season, he averaged 25.7 ppg, 8.3 apg, 7.3 rpg and 1.3 steals per contest.

He then competed in the 2024 Olympics, where he led Team USA to the gold medal and was crowned the men’s basketball tournament MVP.

The Lakers will begin their regular season on Oct. 22 when they host the Minnesota Timberwolves at Crypto.com Arena.
