Sharing on ATP Tennis, former American female tennis player Jill Craybas commented: “I think Serena can be at the top of the list of all-time great tennis players because she has 39 Grand Slams. When you talk about numbers, why not add doubles achievements.
For men like Federer, Nadal and Djokovic, they play doubles very little. Of course they can win more Grand Slam doubles. If we talk about the number of titles, Serena and Court are the best.
“In terms of quality of play and popularity, Serena Williams is one of those people who has transcended tennis. People who don’t watch tennis know Serena.
She’s smart, savvy and successful off the court,” the former American player, who has won six WTA tournaments, added.
Serena Williams has won 23 Grand Slam singles titles, one short of the record held by legendary tennis player Margaret Court. The American also has 14 Grand Slam doubles titles and two mixed doubles titles. Serena has also won four Olympic gold medals and has been number one in the world for 319 weeks.
Novak Djokovic has 24 Grand Slam singles titles and a record 404 weeks as world number one. The Serbian has a total of 98 ATP singles titles, a record only surpassed by Jimmy Connors (109) and Roger Federer (103).
Nole is looking forward to 2024 with the ambition of winning the Golden Slam (winning 4 Grand Slams and winning the Olympic men’s singles gold medal in a calendar year). Djokovic was very close to this title in 2021 when he won the Australian Open, Roland Garros, Wimbledon but the Serbian lost in the US Open final and the Tokyo Olympics semi-finals.
