Serena Williams ex-tennis coach Patrick Mouratoglou recently heaped praise on the 20-time Grand Slam winner Roger Federer. This comes after Federer was seen practicing a few shots on the court at the recently concluded 2024 Laver Cup.

Mouratoglou has coaching experience of more than two decades and has trained numerous world-class players such as Serena Williams, Naomi Osaka, and Stefanos Tsitsipas. Owing to this profound tennis knowledge, Mouratoglou recently dissected the technical aspect of Roger Federer’s game.

Reacting to a video of Roger Federer from his on-court session at the 2024 Laver Cup, Mouratoglou termed the Swiss as one of the most perfect tennis players in the history of the sport

Besides, the French coach also mentioned the stillness of Federer’s loose upper body and the dynamic and fast lower body that makes him such a potent threat on the court. Mouratoglou said (via his official Instagram handle):

“That’s the video of Roger who is probably the player in the history that played the best tennis, perfection when he plays. And it’s cool to see him play again at the Laver Cup. It’s incredible because it looks so easy when he plays, makes zero effort.”

Describing the technical aspect of Roger Federer, Patrick Mouratoglou further stated:

“A lot of people think when he was playing pro that he was not trying hard. But they feel that because the guy is so loose and relaxed with the upper body, which is actually an incredible strength. But if you look at the lower part of the body and even here when he has no purpose and playing just for fun look how dynamic his legs are.”
