Sheamus on Defeating Pete Dunne in Good Ol’ Fashioned Donnybrook Match – On the October 7 edition of WWE RAW, Sheamus secured a victory over Pete Dunne in a brutal Good Ol’ Fashioned Donnybrook match. This match was the culmination of their heated feud, which began when Dunne, formerly known as Butch, blamed Sheamus for the direction his career had taken under the “Butch” persona.
As the match approached its climax, Sheamus and Dunne found themselves on top of a stack of whiskey barrels. Sheamus delivered his signature “ten beats of the bodhran” to Dunne before driving him off the barrels and into two tables at ringside. After rolling Dunne back into the ring, Sheamus delivered a High Cross, but Dunne kicked out. Dunne, recovering quickly, hit Sheamus in the back with a cricket bat, then followed up by breaking a wooden drawer over Sheamus’ back.
In a particularly intense moment, Dunne zip-tied Sheamus’ hands behind his back and landed a running knee strike. Despite this, Sheamus shocked everyone by kicking out of the ensuing pin. Moments later, even with his hands tied, Sheamus delivered a devastating Brogue Kick to Dunne and secured the pinfall victory.
Following the match, Sheamus took to Twitter/X to reflect on the battle, posting, “Butch is dead, long live Pete Dunne.” He used the hashtags “respect” and “banger,” acknowledging that Dunne had earned his respect in this hard-hitting contest. Sheamus also shared a picture of his cut-up back, showing the physical toll the match took on him.
This showdown marked the third singles match between Sheamus and Dunne since August, and with Sheamus’ victory, he won the trilogy, solidifying the end of this chapter of their rivalry.
