The WWE Women’s World Championship match at Bad Blood featured a botch during the return of Raquel Rodriguez that affected the match result.
At the October 5, 2024, WWE PLE, Liv Morgan defended her championship against Rhea Ripley, as can be seen below this news story.
The match ended in a DQ finish with Ripley victorious after Raquel Rodriguez returned, attacking the contender for the title.
Dave Meltzer has now revealed that was not meant to be how the match ended in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, writing:
“The reality is that DQ finish was not planned. The planned finish saw Rodriguez choke slamming Ripley and then throwing Morgan on top for the pin.
“The problem is that the ref was looking right at Rodriguez when she interfered and it was such that it would be ridiculous to not DQ Morgan.
“That’s why Rodriguez threw Morgan on top of Ripley after the DQ for a supposed pin that never happened.”
Meltzer also provided star ratings for WWE Bad Blood, with Liv Morgan vs. Rhea Ripley scoring 2 stars.
The WWE Women’s World Championship match was a touch ahead of the lowest rated match on the show which was Nia Jax vs. Bayley at 1.75 stars.
The highest-rated match was the Hell in a Cell match between CM Punk and Drew McIntyre which opened the WWE PLE.
WrestleTalk maintains a tracker of all Dave Meltzer star ratings which can be found here.
