Sinner Joins Elite Group as He Defeats Djokovic for the Third Consecutive Time

(Sports news, tennis news) Italian tennis player Jannik Sinner has just made a miracle by defeating Novak Djokovic three times in a row, affirming his position in the tennis world.

Italian tennis player Sinner has just become the sixth player in history to defeat Novak Djokovic three times in a row, after a convincing victory at the Shanghai Masters 2024. In this match, the Italian tennis player not only excelled in defeating Djokovic but also did not face any break points, a rare achievement when facing the greatest tennis player in the world.

Sinner (white cap) joins the top 6 players who have defeated Djokovic (red shirt) 3 consecutive matches

Previously, Sinner defeated Djokovic in the semi-finals of the 2024 Australian Open and the 2023 Davis Cup. With this victory, Sinner equalized his head-to-head record with Djokovic to 4-4, while affirming his position in the tennis world.

Djokovic, despite dominating world tennis for the past 15 years with countless records, is not immune to “slips”. Before Sinner, there were five other players who defeated Djokovic three times in a row, including Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray, Jo Wilfried Tsonga and Andy Roddick.

Federer was the first to make his mark, winning four consecutive matches against Djokovic in 2006 and 2007. Nadal, Djokovic’s “arch-rival”, has done it five times in his career. Murray, Tsonga and Roddick also had memorable winning streaks against the Serb between 2008 and 2010.

In the post-match press conference, Jannik Sinner shared: “Defeating Novak Djokovic was an extremely difficult challenge. He always maintained a high level of performance and was full of determination. I am very proud of this victory and will continue to work hard to improve myself.”

The consecutive victories over Djokovic affirm Sinner’s class in the current tennis world.

Djokovic continues to compete, but the emergence of young talents like Sinner is raising hopes of a new generation ready to challenge and push “The Giant” Nole into the past.
