Every loyal fan would know that sports have an integral part in Steph Curry’s family. Starting from his parents to his siblings, everyone has made their mark in their respective sport. And, it’s a no-brainer that the Golden State Warriors superstar’s kids could manage to do magic if they pick up any sport. Notably, Steph’s basketball roots come from his father, Dell Curry, who made a dent in the NBA world, by playing for the Charlotte Hornets. However, he also has a history of excellence in another sport, and his grandchild, Canon (5) showed a glimpse of greatness in it.
And the sport was baseball. Yes, as shocking as it sounds, Dell Curry made a mark in the MLB before swishing buckets in the NBA. The Baltimore Orioles drafted the former NBA star in the 14th round of the 1985 Draft out of Virginia Tech. However, he decided to continue his journey on the hardwood, after the Utah Jazz drafted him as the #15 overall pick in the 1986 draft.
Nevertheless, the Curry family has an opportunity to make a mark in the MLB as well. Thanks to the five-year-old son of Steph Curry, Canon, who showed glimpses of being a good pitcher. And the fans seemed to have seconded that thought with their overflowing praise on social media. In a recent IG post shared from the Warriors’ official handle, fans quickly noticed Curry Jr.’s skills.
Stephen Curry had a field day at Oracle Park, making a special appearance ahead of the New York Yankees vs San Francisco Giants game. Firstly, he walked out with Martin Luther Kings’ confidant, Clarence B. Jones, to do the first pitch honor. Followed by a brief stay at the Giants’ dug-out with his kids before reuniting with his teammates at the stands.
However, Canon Curry stole the limelight during the family’s time at the Kings’ dugout. The 5-year-old showcased his throwing skills to the world and started making fans even before his professional career.
Canon Curry isn’t a new face to the NBA world. The 5-year-old has made many cameo appearances in the Warriors locker room. He even won a few hearts with his antics on the court. Especially, since he made the headline for attempting to punch Draymond Green before Ayesha Curry stopped it. And, it was enough for fans to make hilarious statements like “Canon gotta stop hanging out with Draymond,” on the funnier note.
While Canon was expected to take over the NBA court in the future, the star kid’s recent appearance at Oracle Park gave fans another idea. A fan pointing out Canon’s throw in the reel said, “Cannon really got a cannon.” Rightly so, he did have a strong throw for a five-year-old. In one of the clips, Steph can be seen protecting his daughter, Ryan, when Cannon threw the ball, fearing that it might hurt her.
Another fan pointed out the distance from where the Curry Jr. threw the ball and wrote, “Nobody gonna talk about Canon’s throw from that distance.” Similarly, another fan backed it up, saying, “Canon has a good arm.”
While Canon garnered all the attention, some fans also noticed Ryan Curry and how left out she felt. A fan wrote, “You can tell Curry’s daughter only likes basketball lol.” And, another backed it up, speaking like a true Dubs fan, writing, “Ryan lookin like ‘dang we should be in the finals right now not at a baseball game.’”
