KAT was drafted with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft by the Timberwolves and spent nine seasons with the team.
He’s made four All-Star teams and two All-NBA teams over those nine years and was a key reason the Timberwolves turned into playoff contenders.
The Knicks were already active in the trade market earlier in the offseason, but they shelled out for this final big move in the hopes of making a deep playoff run.
New York sent Donte DiVincenzo, Julius Randle, and a first-round pick back to Minnesota in return for KAT.

Towns is in a relationship with model Jordyn Woods, and just before the trade she was seen out with WNBA star Angel Reese.
A post picturing Woods and Reese together has garnered over a million views on X, with the picture seemingly coming from Woods’ Instagram.
Reese commented on one of Woods’ recent X posts, writing, “we had a timeeee Queen.”
Fans loved seeing the two together and shared their thoughts on social media.

Reese had a solid rookie season in the WNBA, but it was cut short by a late-season wrist injury.
She averaged 13.6 points and 13.1 rebounds per game, and set the WNBA single-season record for consecutive double-doubles.

Reese likely would have been the WNBA Rookie of the Year if not for the incredible season of Caitlin Clark.
Clark averaged 19.2 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 8.4 assists per game in her rookie campaign.
She made the All-Star game alongside Reese and set multiple records of her own during the season.
