The Rock Is Back: What’s Next for Dwayne Johnson in WWE?

It appears that the Bloodline Civil War may begin soon. There are two key components to the way most fans see the feud evolving; the return to the ring of Roman Reigns and the return to the WWE of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. While Reigns return has been teased since a few weeks before SummerSlam, the Rock’s return has been a little more guarded of a secret.

Johnson cleared one of the bigger hurdles when he completed filming The Smashing Machine in late July. While he has several other movie projects in the pipeline, his schedule gap allows him the latitude to get back into the storylines and action. And now word has emerged that might happen sooner rather than later.

There are rumors the Rock could be returning to WWE in a month or two (PWN Discord) – Wrestlelamia

Fans last saw The Rock in ring action at Wrestlemania 40, when he and Rhodes teamed up to defeat Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins in tag-team action. Since that weekend, both he and Reigns took an extended hiatus, though Reigns has already returned to the storyline after Solo Sikoa ascended to the top of the Bloodline faction. Reigns has fought against the New Bloodline (Sikoa, Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa and Jacob Fatu) a handful of times, but he’s been missing from Friday Night Smackdown for the last two weeks.

Perhaps with this coming new season premiering on USA Network starting this Friday, Reigns will be back sooner than later. Fans expect he and The Rock to end up on opposite sides of things, with former Bloodline members siding with Reigns.
