Thrilling Shanghai Masters 10/9: Dimitrov Falls, Fritz Dominates Rune in a Stunning Victory!

(Sports news, tennis news) Three seeds Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic all met weaker opponents in the fourth round of the Shanghai Masters.

Fritz “destroys” Rune

The match between Fritz and Holger Rune seemed to be exciting, but the situation on the field was not like that. In fact, Fritz proved to be too strong for the Danish player. Fritz quickly won 6-1, 6-2 to book his name in the quarterfinals.

Dimitrov is eliminated.

Veteran tennis player Dimitrov had a tough match in the fourth round against Mensik of the Czech Republic. “Little Federer” lost 3-6 in the first set, but won 6-3 in the second set to equalize the score. In the deciding third set, Dimitrov did not play well and lost 4-6, thereby losing 1-2 overall.

*We will report live the match between Carlos Alcaraz and Gael Monfils at 1pm today (October 9). Readers are invited to watch!

Jannik Sinner – Ben Shelton: 11:30, October 9, round 4

As if by chance, Sinner and Shelton met again in the fourth round of the Shanghai Masters. This was the tournament that marked the first encounter between the two players last year. At that time, also in the fourth round, Shelton defeated Sinner in three sets, reaching the quarterfinals of the Masters 1000 tournament in China.

Sinner and Shelton meet again in the fourth round of the Shanghai Masters

Since then, Sinner has met Shelton three more times, with the Italian winning each time. However, in all three of those matches, Sinner took a set into a tie-break. So it wouldn’t be surprising if Shelton gave the world No. 1 another hard time, but winning might be too much for the American.

Carlos Alcaraz – Gael Monfils: 1pm, October 9, round 4

Alcaraz will have a chance to avenge his loss to Monfils in the second round of the Cincinnati Open in August. The Spaniard is in great form with an 11-match winning streak, including a victory over Sinner to win the China Open last week. That is why Monfils believes he has only a 1% chance of beating Alcaraz this time.

“I think Alcaraz will beat me. He will crush me 100%. Last time I was very lucky and it was not a good match from him, and one of my good matches.

Alcaraz’s level is unbelievable. I did well myself but he is on his way to becoming a legend. I will do everything not to be crushed too easily, in a way.

“The chance for Alcaraz is 99%, but if it’s just 1%, you know, that’s why you have to go out there. I’ll enjoy the game, but as a man, I have to say this guy is really something special.”

Roman Safiullin – Novak Djokovic: 5:30 p.m., October 9, round 4

After a hard-fought opening match against Alex Michelsen, Djokovic put in an impressive performance, easily defeating Flavio Cobolli in the third round. The Serbian will face Roman Safiullin in the fourth round. The Russian, ranked 61st in the world, caused a surprise when he eliminated 13th seed Frances Tiafoe.

Djokovic is on his way to winning his 100th title

Djokovic has met Safiullin twice in the past and the Serbian has won both times. In their most recent meeting, Nole defeated the Russian in the second round of Monte Carlo in June. If he plays at his best, the former world No. 1 will have no trouble making his opponent sad again.
