Top 5 Contenders for the Paris Masters: Sinner and Alcaraz Poised to Claim the Crown!

(Sports news, tennis news) The 2024 Paris Masters from October 28 to November 3 opens up championship opportunities for Sinner and Alcaraz when Djokovic does not participate.

The 2024 Paris Masters, which runs from October 28 to November 3, offers a great opportunity for players to compete for the final ATP 1000 title of the year. With champion Novak Djokovic withdrawing, the door is wide open for new contenders like Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz, two top players who have a chance to win the ATP 1000 title in France for the first time. Here’s a breakdown of the chances of the top five contenders.

Sinner or Alcaraz could be the new Paris Masters 2024

1. Jannik Sinner: Stable performance, bright chance to win the throne

Sinner is currently the most successful player of the year with 65 wins and 6 losses, winning 7 titles from 8 finals, including 2 Grand Slam tournaments on hard courts and 3 Masters 1000 events.

Sinner is on an 11-match winning streak at Masters level and his recent Six Kings Slam win over Alcaraz has given him a boost in confidence. Despite a lack of form at the Paris Masters (1 win, 2 losses) and a tough draw, Sinner is expected to make history with his current form.

2. Carlos Alcaraz is the highest rated

Alcaraz won two Grand Slams this year and became the youngest player to complete the “Surface Slam” (winning a Grand Slam on three different surfaces). Despite an early defeat at the US Open, Alcaraz maintained his steady form with the China Open title and reached the quarterfinals of the Shanghai Masters.

His best result at the Paris Masters was only the quarter-finals in 2022. However, with a recent string of successes, Alcaraz promises to go further to compete for the championship for the first time at the French Masters.

3. Alexander Zverev: Candidate for final ticket

Zverev had a successful season with 61 wins, peaking with the Italian Open title and runner-up at Roland Garros. Zverev’s record in Paris was also quite good with 12 wins, 6 losses, and he reached the final in 2018. Experience and stability this year make Zverev one of the few players capable of competing for the championship.

4. Daniil Medvedev: The former king can surprise

Medvedev won the Paris Masters in 2020 and was runner-up in 2021, but has been inconsistent, losing three times in the second round. This season, Medvedev’s results have been quite stable (45 wins, 18 losses), but he has yet to win any titles. Despite not being in top form, Medvedev can still play explosively in Paris.

5. Taylor Fritz: Can create many surprises

Fritz had a solid season with 49 wins, winning two titles at Eastbourne and Delray Beach. At the US Open, Fritz reached the final, losing only to Sinner. He also reached the semi-finals at Madrid and recently at the Shanghai Masters.

Fritz has not had a great record at the Paris Masters (best result is the quarterfinals in 2021). But with experience and stable form, the American player can create a surprise in this year’s tournament.

With Djokovic absent, this year’s Paris Masters offers a great opportunity for a new champion. Sinner and Alcaraz, who are the top seeds, are the two favorites, but Medvedev, Zverev and Fritz are expected to compete fiercely.
