Travis Kelce has reportedly splashed out on a $6million mansion in Kansas City, with the NFL star wanting more privacy amid his whirlwind romance with Taylor Swift.
Kelce closed the deal on Tuesday night, according to TMZ, and his new place comes with a waterfall, swimming pool and mini golf course.
The publication says Kelce, 34, was uneasy with how accessible his previous home was and that the NFL star felt he needed more privacy.
It adds that his relationship with Swift factored into his decision making and that his new home is apparently in a gated community. TMZ also adds that Kelce paid for it with his own cash and it was not a joint purchase with Swift.
Kelce has an annual salary of $14m with the Kansas City Chiefs and signed a four-year deal worth around $57m in 2020.
But that salary will have been topped up by a string of commercial deals he has struck in recent months, including with Pfizer where he encourages people to get vaccinated. He also has deals with State Farm, Hy-Vee and Experian.
This weekend, Kelce and Swift were the talk of the town in New York, with the couple staying at Swift’s apartment in Tribeca over the weekend.
The pop star had been to see him play for the Chiefs in Thursday night’s 19-8 victory against Denver Broncos.
They then headed to the Big Apple together and made cameo appearances at Saturday Night Live before heading out for dinner at the celeb hotspot Nobu – a sushi restaurant.
The latest edition of Kelce’s podcast – New Heights – that he co-hosts with his brother Jason, who plays in the NFL for the Philadelphia Eagles, touched on his weekend with Swift.
‘I don’t even remember what I said, I blacked out,’ Travis said about his SNL appearance. ‘As soon as they cued to me, the entire place erupted which was very overwhelming and I’m not even sure if I said anything.
‘I walked off stage and I said, “I didn’t say anything at all.” Everyone was like, “Yeah you killed it.” I watched it over and I still don’t really know if I said what I was supposed to.
‘We showed up at SNL having the idea of going and supporting Ice Spice, her and Taylor are good friends. I’ve always wanted to meet Pete Davison, been a fan of his for quite a while since he was actually on the show.
‘I tell you what man, it was electric to be back in that place, there is just something about being in that room, and it being their first episode this season. I had such a fricking blast, man.
‘It was a star-studded back room, I’m not one to throw around names so I won’t, but it was awesome. Thank you for having us.
‘I didn’t know what skits were coming up and I’m pretty sure that it was just ironic they were doing one on Swift Mania, but I thought it was hilarious and when they asked me to be a part of it I was like “man I’d be honored”. And then Taylor also made the surprise cameo introducing her good friend Ice Spice, who absolutely killed it as well.
‘It was fun catching up with everybody over at SNL. I miss those guys and girls. Hopefully, you know, I win [the Super Bowl] or Jason wins it, and we find ourselves back.’
Two-time Super Bowl winner Kelce and the Chiefs play the Los Angeles Chargers in the NFL on Sunday afternoon, at Kansas City’s Arrowhead Stadium. It is not yet known if Swift will be there to cheer him on, but given her Eras tour resumes in Argentina on November 9, she doesn’t have too many opportunities to see him play in the near future.
After this weekend, the Chiefs are in Denver for a return game with the Broncos and the following weekend head to Germany to play Miami Dolphins – five days before Swift’s first show in Buenos Aires.
