Travis Kelce said he doesn’t expect whoever he’s dating to attend all of his Kansas City Chiefs games in a past interview that has resurfaced after his girlfriend Taylor Swift’s back-to-back absences this season.
The tight end got candid about the expectations for his significant other back in 2016 while promoting his reality series, “Catching Kelce.”
“If you’re dating a professional athlete, I do not believe, at least for me, that you have to go to all the games,” he told WhoSay while sharing his tips on how to be a “standout WAG.”
“I mean, there’s eight home games, eight away games, plus playoffs. I don’t even expect my parents and my friends to make every single game,” Kelce, now 34, continued.
However, the NFL star said that he needed his girlfriend to be his No. 1 supporter when she was in attendance.
“I need her to cheer when we’re doing awesome, just to make sure that that look is being presented to everyone,” he explained.
At the time, Kelce was dating Maya Benberry, whom he met on the E! dating show.
The two split after a few months together. The football player then moved on to model Kayla Nicole, whom he dated from 2017 to May 2022.
The three-time Super Bowl champion’s past comments have resurfaced after Swift, 34, did not attend the Chiefs past two away games in Atlanta and Los Angeles.
We’ve also been told that it’s difficult for the pop star to attend games that aren’t at the Chiefs’ own Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Mo., due to “security concerns.”
“She has worked with Arrowhead so many times, they feel at ease and comfortable. Going to all kinds of different stadiums, you need to send a team in advance,” an insider shared.
The Grammy winner usually watches her beau’s NFL games from a VIP suite at Arrowhead Stadium, where she makes an entrance often decked out in the team’s colors.
Swift’s two notable absences this season come as Kelce has faced criticism for his performance on the field, with critics blaming the tight end’s newfound fame and busy offseason for his lackluster stats.
The Chiefs, however, are 4-0 so far.
