French toast really is the answer to everything.
Travis Kelce, who is set to play against the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday night, swears that French toast is the perfect meal to help fuel him in the field.
The Kansas City Chiefs tight end, 34, has talked about his love for the breakfast meal numerous times since revealing it was his go-to pre-game meal in 2019.
“I love BBQ, but every pregame meal has been French toast and strawberries since I’ve been on the Chiefs,” Kelce, who was drafted by the franchise in 2013, previously told Inside Hook.
Aside from being delicious, Kelce explained that eating the carb-heavy meal gives him enough energy to perform his best on the football field.
“On game day, you want to carb up, so I have the energy I need for the game,” he told Men’s Journal in 2020. “If I can, I’ll have a breakfast type of meal, since a lot of our games are from 12-4 in the afternoon. Sometimes you might get lunch, but it’s mostly breakfast.”
“For me, I have to grab some French toast, get my blood sugar going, get some carbs in. I’m big on French toast. Always eat that at the teams’ pregame meal.”
Kelce, 34, employed childhood friend Kumar Ferguson as his private chef in 2016 after deciding he wanted to “eat better and cleaner.”
Ferguson occasionally shares his creations online — including recipes for several different French Toast variations, such as “Crunchy Flaky French Toast,” “Croissant Crème Brûlée French Toast” and “Blueberry Drizzled Brown Sugar Crunch French Toast Stix.”
While Ferguson has Kelce’s French Toast covered, the NFL star’s girlfriend Taylor Swift has also been whipping up some homemade breakfast treats.
In December 2023, retired NFL star Bernie Kosar recalled meeting the pop star at Kelce’s home before her first Chiefs game on Sept. 24.
“Taylor is so nice,” Kosar shared on the “Tobin and Leroy” show. “She comes in by herself, she’s so cool, she brings … she made her homemade cinnamon rolls for Travis for a pregame meal.”
A few months later, head coach Andy Reid revealed the “Fortnight” singer also made the team homemade Pop-Tarts.
“She likes to cook, so she made the offensive linemen homemade Pop-Tarts,” Reid said on “NFL on NBC.”
Although the legendary coach didn’t get to try her pastries, Kelce has had a chance to test out the toaster pastries.
“Taylor makes a great Pop-Tart and cinnamon roll,” he told reporters at a press conference in June.
