The Golden State Warriors paid tribute to star point guard Stephen Curry for his gold medal-winning performance with the Team USA basketball team at the Paris Olympics ahead of a Friday night preseason game against the Sacramento Kings.
Curry was fantastic in the gold-medal game against France, scoring 24 points that all came from his eight three-pointers. He added five assists and two steals.
His four threes in the final three minutes of that contest not only helped seal the gold medal for the Americans, but also provided one of the iconic moments of the Paris Games.
“It’s right up there with all of the greatest games of his career,” Steve Kerr, Curry’s head coach for both Team USA and the Warriors, told reporters after the gold-medal game. “The shot-making was just incredible. But under the circumstances, on the road, in Paris, against France for a gold medal, this is storybook stuff. But that’s what Steph does. He likes to be in storybooks.”
His four NBA titles and numerous records speak for themselves. But in a career full of iconic performances, this was one that won’t soon be forgotten.
