Antonio Pierce’s sly past in Arizona is finally catching up to him. So much so, that if he were fired from his head coaching position from the NFL today, he might have a hard time finding a new job. Not just in the NFL, but also in the NCAA. He might even have to resort to coaching a high school all over again.

What’s so bad that the NCAA went on a witch hunt for Pierce? Well, it has to do with his time at Arizona State where he took on many roles. One of those roles had him doing the recruiting work for ASU. Apparently, he violated the COVID policies of the NCAA and recruited the players anyway. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

When Pierce was the associate coach at ASU (2018-2021), he violated the NCAAs COVID 19 recruiting protocols and hatched a “scheme” to bypass those laws. As a result, the head coach of the Raiders is facing a “eight-year show cause order.” The NCAA announced the news on Thursday and the implications of this trespassing are huge.

He didn’t just meet a handful of players. It was a total of 35 prospects! But that’s not even the thing he’s in trouble for. His staff contacted players enrolled in another school while Pierce traveled to meet those prospects “during a recruiting dead period.” He facilitated recruiting contact with those 35 prospects personally. Pierce also took the players for “tryouts, football facility tours and entertainment,” per ESPN.

Per ESPN NFLs Instagram post, “If he’s hired by an NCAA school during the 8-year show-cause order, he will be suspended from all athletic related activities for one season.” That’s a weird place to be in because he can either wait for 8 years or take a chance, sign a coaching contract with an NCAA school and wait for a year. No school would want to hire a coach that they can’t do anything with. That’s only if he gets fired from the NFL, of course.

Pierce has no fear of the NCAA laws

Firstly, Pierce cannot coach any NCAA school till Oct. 2, 2032. One of the main reasons for the harsh action against him is: he provided “false or misleading information” during investigations. According to an ASU Staff member, Pierce abused his authority and threaten the staff members about their jobs. He even pressured the staff members to engage in the violation of those laws.

Per the ASU staff member, Pierce “did not fear the potential consequences for NCAA violations due to the financial security provided by his self-proclaimed wealth.” But you wouldn’t imagine the who else was involved in violating those policies. Per ESPN, Jayden Daniels’ mother aided and abetted the campus visits and other such activities, too.

What’s more rousing is the fact that Daniels transferred to LSU in the 2022 season and, at the exact same time, Antonio Pierce found a job at the Las Vegas Raiders as their linebackers coach after he resigned from ASU. What do you think about the whole disaster?
