Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch are two of WWE‘s biggest stars of the last decade, having won countless titles, created memorable storylines, and headlined various premium live events. They’re names that have crossed outside the wrestling bubble due to their success, and whenever they’re around in WWE they’re given important storylines.
Becky Lynch had a very successful WWE career, becoming a Grand Slam Champion and even main eventing WrestleMania. But The Man didn’t win it all.
Both are out of action for differing reasons at the moment, but their presence is currently missed. It’s unknown when or even if Lynch will be back, but WWE needs to act sooner rather than later to inject star power into the women’s division and help the company overall.
Where Is Becky Lynch And Charlotte Flair?
The Man And The Queen Are Absent From WWE For Different Reasons
Flair and Lynch are both off television, but their circumstances aren’t the same. The Queen has been off television for a much longer spell, with her last match taking place on December 8, 2023, compared to Lynch’s, which took place on May 27 against Liv Morgan.
Unfortunately, Flair suffered severe knee injuries during her encounter against Asuka, and the multi-time Women’s Champion has been rehabilitating them ever since. She tore her ACL, MCL, and meniscus at the same time during that encounter, which is why she’s missed so much television. She remains under contract and has been sharing regular updates on her progress as it has become clear how hard she’s working to get back into the ring.
However, the situation is different when it comes to Lynch. Her last match saw Morgan defeat her to become the Women’s World Champion, and since then, she hasn’t been seen. That’s not due to injury but because she’s no longer under contract with the company. Despite being one of the biggest names in the industry, Lynch doesn’t have an active deal with WWE, which means she’s a free agent. She hasn’t worked in wrestling outside WWE since then, and her husband, Seth Rollins, remains with the company, which gives people hope that her return will happen, too.

The Women’s Division Is Lacking Star Power
WWE Isn’t Giving The Women’s Division The Same Focus
WWE put a lot of work into the women’s division during the past decade, which took women’s wrestling to new heights. Female wrestlers have headlined WWE WrestleMania multiple times and at other significant shows, allowing the talent to develop as they’re given more opportunities. Unfortunately, that’s stopped happening as much lately, and it does feel like there’s a lack of star power on the roster. Three out of the Four Horsewomen are gone, and WWE completely wasted Bayley’s momentum with her recently underwhelming title reign. Add in the fact that Alexa Bliss isn’t around, and Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill are both not being used to their full potential in a tag team, and the division has a problem.
Morgan’s storyline against Rhea Ripley has been brilliant, and the two women have put lots of work into making it a hit. However, fans are even starting to tire of that angle, too, as it has gone on too long, and neither of them has compelling or interesting stars to face.
WWE is dragging storylines on for much longer because the division lacks star power. The presence of Flair and Lynch is being missed massively, as they’re characters that audiences always care about, regardless of what they’re doing. They can be plugged into big feuds and pushed as heels or babyfaces, and that instantly gives the creative team more options. Outside of the two big title storylines taking place on each roster, there is nothing happening regarding the women’s divisions on either show. That’s a problem that could be addressed by injecting Flair and Lynch, especially as WWE starts ramping up towards the important half of the year.
Charlotte Flair And Becky Lynch Could Bolster Non-Title Storylines
There’s Nothing Notable Happening Outside The Main Storylines
WWE is putting plenty of effort into Ripley’s feud against Morgan or the possibility of Tiffany Stratton cashing in her Money in the Bank briefcase. However, outside of that, there’s nothing going on, and that’s why audiences are starting to become tired of the women’s division.
The staleness is also impacting the wrestlers on the roster too. Fans are getting frustrated with Ripley and Morgan because the angle has gone on for too long, but it’s overstayed its welcome because there’s nobody else ready to step up and challenge them, as WWE doesn’t have other options who the fans see at that level.
Liv Morgan was struggling in WWE until she ran into Rhea Ripley and Dominik Mysterio on Raw.
The rest of the roster is talented but not booked in the same vein, and that’s why Lynch and Flair need to be back. They could put together a compelling non-title storyline against some of the upcoming stars that would help elevate the other roster members to that level. This would help the company if and when they need to take more time off, because other wrestlers will be seen as bigger stars. While there’s nothing WWE can do about Flair until she’s medically cleared, once she’s healthy, it’s best for her to be put straight back into the fold rather than wait for a big event.
Lynch is a more interesting case because she’s healthy and ready to be used. The fact WWE doesn’t have her under contract is bizarre given her star power. The roster is screaming out for a wrestler that fans care about like her, which is why Triple H needs to start working his magic with the division again, starting with these two women.
