Wimbledon 2024 final between Djokovic and Alcaraz is ‘most expensive ticket ever’ with cheapest seat going for £7,800

THE WIMBLEDON final is reportedly the hottest ticket in town EVER.

Novak Djokovic will try and wrestle back the Wimbledon trophy from Carlos Alcaraz this afternoon.

Djokovic, 37, was beaten in five thrilling sets a year ago in one of the most memorable Grand Slam finals.

Today, just five weeks on from surgery on his knee, the Serbian can match Roger Federer’s haul of eight men’s singles titles at Wimbledon – and secure a record-breaking 25th singles Major.

And for the 15,000 fans inside Centre Court, some of them will have paid an absolute fortune to be there.

According to sports business analyst and former ESPN reporter Darren Rovell, the cheapest resale ticket available on Friday once the all-star Wimbledon final was confirmed was a whopping £7,800 – or $10,000.

And that is said to be a new record.

Rovell claimed on X: “Djokovic-Alcaraz Wimbledon final will be the most expensive get-in finals tickets in the history of sports.

“Right now, WORST SEAT for Sunday is more than $10,000.”

At face value, most tickets inside Centre Court cost punters £275.

The tournament says: “Do not buy tickets from touts or any other unauthorised agent, they will not gain you access to the Grounds.

“All other tickets are strictly non-transferable and must neither be sold or advertised for sale whether on the internet, in newspapers, or elsewhere.

“Any such tickets advertised for sale will be void.”

Similarly, England fans hoping to make a last-ditch attempt to get to Berlin for tonight’s Euro 2024 final with Spain are facing similar gargantuan hikes in ticket prices on the illegal market.

Wimbledon have a strict ‘no football’ policy at the club – meaning no public screens will show the Euro 2024 final later on, even shutting the blinds in the media centre to block punters peering in.

Wimbledon 2024 prize money

PRIZE MONEY for the 2024 Wimbledon Championships is a new record – and puts the grass-court Slam at the top of the tree.

The All England Club will dish out £50million across all the events – an increase of £5.3m and 11.9 per cent on last year, where singles champions Carlos Alcaraz and Marketa Vondrousova picked up £2.35m each.

However, the king and queen of grass this July will collect an extra £350,000 – taking the winner’s earnings to £2.7m.

Here is the breakdown for the 2024 Wimbledon singles prize money:
