Winning the China Open, Alcaraz sets a record that even Djokovic and Nadal have to ‘admit defeat’

A “unique” record was set by Carlos Alcaraz with his victory at the 2024 ATP 500 China Open.

Former world No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz set an “unprecedented” record that even Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer could not overcome after successfully winning the ATP 500 China Open 2024 tennis tournament yesterday, October 3.

According to Tennis TV , Alcaraz has become the first player in history to win ATP 500 tournaments on all three surfaces: hard, clay and grass. Carlitos’ first ATP 500 title came on clay in Rio De Janeiro in 2022 (beating Diego Schwartzman), the Spaniard continued to reach the final of the 2023 season but lost to Cameron Norrie.

Just one month after winning the 2022 Rio Open, Alcaraz won his first ATP 500 Barcelona Open after defeating his senior Pablo Carreno Busta. The 2003-born player successfully defended his title in Catalunya with a victory over Stefanos Tsitsipas.

On grass, Carlos Alcaraz had his first “triumph” at Queen’s Club 2023, where he defeated “Demon” Alex De Minaur. It took more than a year for Alcaraz to complete his ATP 500 title on three different surfaces in Beijing with a convincing victory over rival Jannik Sinner.

This was one of the best matches of the year with the most dramatic developments, both sides brought fiery tennis with very high intensity, completely conquering the hearts of tennis fans around the world. Alcaraz started better, had a break-point and a chance to close out set 1, but Sinner fought back strongly to come back, winning the opponent in the tie-break. In set 2, Alcaraz encountered many difficulties under pressure from Sinner, but it was Carlitos who took advantage of the better opportunity to tie 1-1.

Both sides fought hard for every point, showing all their skills to preserve the game, forcing the match to be decided in a tie-break. Sinner soon led 3-0, but Alcaraz’s extraordinary courage at the decisive moment helped him score 7 consecutive points to turn the Italian into the former China Open champion.
