WWE Reportedly Unhappy with Ring Collapsing Spot During RAW – On Monday’s RAW, WWE did a ring collapsing spot during the Last Monster Standing Match that featured Braun Strowman vs. Bronson Reed.
In the match’s closing moments, Reed hit Strowman with a superplex that caused the ring to collapse. Seth Rollins came out to the ring to make his return to hit Bronson with a stomp on the steel steps. Strowman picked up the win as a result.
Unlike past ring collapsing spots, the ring didn’t go down all the way due to the LED boards. While those online and at the show liked the spot, WWE felt differently. WrestleVotes reported during a Q&A on SportsKeeda’s WrestleBinge YouTube channel that the spot didn’t go as well as WWE had planned.
WrestleVotes stated, “The performance [Reed’s performance] last night…overall, everybody loved it. This is specifically talking about the broken ring spot. Let’s just say it didn’t go as planned. They didn’t like the way it came off. They loved the performance of both those guys, the match itself was well praised, I mean the crowd was electric. I just think the actual spot of the ring breaking didn’t have the impact that it has had in the past, a lot of people expected it. I did have a source who was there last night, the internal reaction instantly was, ‘Oof, not as big as we would have hoped.’ I don’t know if it was a mechanical thing or just the impact that it made. It looked as it did…to give a little more colour into what my source was referencing, this was probably the most predictable ring collapsing spot they’ve ever done. So when you know it’s coming, and it’s still not great, therein lies the problem. But not taking anything away from the performance prior to that.”
