Roman Reigns and John Cena were involved in a recent trademark filing by WWE.
With only hours left for the Bad Blood PLE, reports have emerged about the promotion filing for two new trademarks related to former World Champions, Roman Reigns and John Cena.
On October 4, 2024, the Stamford-based promotion filed trademarks for, “Acknowledge Me,” “You Can’t See Me,” “Never Give Up” and “Hustle, Loyalty, Respect.” The filing involves three popular catchphrases of Cena and one trademark catchphrase of Reigns’ current ‘Tribal Chief’ gimmick.
A report from Fightful shared more description of the filing. It read:
Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibitions and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer rendered and through broadcast media including television and radio, and via the internet or commercial online service; providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network; providing information in the fields of sports and entertainment via an online community portal; providing a website in the field of sports entertainment information; fan club services, namely, organizing sporting events in the field of wrestling for wrestling fan club members; organizing social entertainment events for entertainment purposes for wrestling fan club members; providing online newsletters in the fields of sports entertainment; online journals, namely blogs, in the field of sports entertainment.”
At Bad Blood, Roman Reigns is scheduled to be in a tag-team match with Cody Rhodes against Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu.
Recently, AEW’s vice President of Show and Creative Coordination, QT Marshall shared his role in reviving Jey Uso’s ‘Yeet’ catchphrase over trademark issues last year.
Last year in December, ‘Main Event’ Jey Uso had to drop his signature catchphrase ‘Yeet’ over trademark issues. However, in a recent interview with Gabby LaSpisa of the Gabby AF podcast, QT Marshall revealed his role in reviving the catchphrase.
I saw that they had the t-shirt up and then it was gone. I reached out to Cody and I said, ‘Hey, I know the kid that owns the word.’ He was like, ‘You think you can get in touch with him?’ I was like, ‘Yeah, I’ll call him right now.’ I don’t know how it happened, I got that kid, I spoke to him, I told Cody we’re in a little group chat. Within a day or two, Jey Uso had it. I’m not saying it was because of me.”
Soon after, the trademark issue was solved, and Jey Uso was reunited with his ‘Yeet’. Uso recently defeated Bron Breakker and won the Intercontinental Championship.
