Before joining AEW, Bryan Danielson was riding the WWE superstar wave. He wrestled for the organization under the name Daniel Bryan.
Since 2010, the 43-year-old has risen to prominence in the marketing. He also won the US and World Heavyweight titles. The celebrity created Team Hell No alongside Kane, which resulted in the foundation of The Yes Movement in 2013. The narrative of an underdog being acknowledged for his genuine skill ended with him yelling ‘YES! YES! YES’ to anybody who stood in his way.
The term quickly gained popularity in the wrestling industry. When Bryan Danielson made his AEW debut in 2021, he avoided using the slogan, but fans continued to use it. The American Dragon attempted to trademark the slogan associated with his gimmick in July of this year, but the application was denied. WWE apparently filed two trademark applications for the legendary slogan with the following descriptions:
“Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibitions and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer rendered and through broadcast media including television and radio, and via the internet or commercial online service; providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network; providing information in the fields of sports and entertainment via an online community portal.”
“Providing a website in the field of sports entertainment information; fan club services, namely, organizing sporting events in the field of wrestling for wrestling fan club members; organizing social entertainment events for entertainment purposes for wrestling fan club members; providing online newsletters in the fields of sports entertainment; online journals, namely blogs, in the field of sports entertainment.” [H/T Wrestle Talk]
It also specified what articles and merchandise the brand will be used for. Bryan Danielson’s final WWE bout was in April 2021, when he was banned from SmackDown after losing to Roman Reigns.
After his departure, Bryan Danielson’s wife, Brie Bella, continued to participate in occasional matches and appearances. During the brief time of transition after leaving WWE, many people speculated about a possible return.
Given the company’s impact on his wrestling career, the former WWE Champion has not ruled out the prospect of participating in the Stamford-based business again.
The former Blackpool Combat Club member had a stormy encounter with Jon Moxley and Claudio Castagnoli, which resulted in an unexpected betrayal. Danielson recently challenged Continental Champion Kazuchika Okada to a bout at AEW Dynamite’s fifth-anniversary show this week.
