As anticipation builds for WWE’s SummerSlam, fans are speculating whether Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will step into the ring once again.

Known for his electrifying presence, The Rock made a dramatic return at WrestleMania 40 earlier this year, adding fuel to ongoing storylines involving his cousin, Roman Reigns, and champion Cody Rhodes.

SummerSlam 2024 promises fireworks with or without The Rock

SummerSlam, scheduled to take place at Cleveland Browns Stadium, promises to be a blockbuster event for wrestling enthusiasts.

The event, a highlight in WWE’s annual calendar, is set to feature some of the industry’s biggest names and most heated rivalries.

These are the confirmed matches for Summerslam:

  • Cody Rhodes (champion) vs Solo Sikoa (Undisputed WWE Title)
  • Liv Morgan (C) vs Rhea Ripley (Women’s World Title)
  • Damian Priest (C) vs Gunther (World Heavyweight Title)
  • Bayley (C) vs Nia Jax (WWE Women’s Title)

The Rock’s last appearance at WrestleMania left a lasting impact, as he teamed up with Reigns in a memorable tag team match.

This collaboration, however, was overshadowed by Rhodes’s subsequent victory over Reigns, which marked a turning point in their ongoing rivalry.

SummerSlam will not only showcase intense matchups but also serve as a platform for potential alliances and betrayals.

With Rhodes defending his title against Solo Sikoa, tensions are high within WWE’s top ranks.

SikoaReigns’s cousin, has risen to prominence in Rhodes’s absence, leading to speculation about a potential reunion between The Rock and Reigns.

Rhodes calls out The Rock in ongoing feud

Cody Rhodes, currently holding the Undisputed WWE Title, has been at the center of attention, particularly in his ongoing feud with The Rock.

Rhodes recently commented on their rivalry, highlighting The Rock’s provocative tactics during their WrestleMania clash.

The animosity between the two escalated when Rhodes accused The Rock of crossing a personal boundary by referencing his siblings in a public forum.

While appearing on the ‘Insight with Chris Van Vliet’ podcast, The American Nightmare revealed, “The only line that I think he [The Rock] crossed was he made my sister Teil non-canon.”

“He mentioned that I had two other siblings and that being Dustin and Kristin who are from my dad’s first marriage. Which is, you’re not wrong, we do have them. This is when he called me a ‘mistake’ but he made Teil non-canon. And Teil is the closest I have as my original best friend, you know, so that was a little- I felt bad. I felt bad for her,”Rhodes added

While speculation abounds regarding potential surprise appearances, sources close to WWE suggest that while The Rock is intricately woven into the storyline, an in-ring return at SummerSlam may not be in the cards.

Despite this, his presence looms large over the event, leaving fans eager for what unfolds next in this gripping narrative.
